Global Nitrogen Assessment
The International Nitrogen Initiative, which is co-sponsored by IGBP and SCOPE, holds a side event to highlight the impact human activity is having on the global nitrogen cycle. INI is calling for a global nitrogen assessment. this call is supported by IGBP. 7 Dec. 18:00-19:00. US Center, Hall C5
IGBP Climate Change Index Press Conference 
The press conference will launch the IGBP Climate-Change Index. The index brings together four key parameters – carbon dioxide, temperature, sea level and Arctic sea ice. The index is a visually arresting and graphic demonstration of the scale of change the planet has undergone in the last 30 years. 9 December, 09:00-09:30. Asger Jorn Room, Hall H
Side Event
Science, Society, and Adaptation
Adaptation to climate change requires new policies and new science to support them. This side event presents new insights on food security, the needs of least developed nations, the global nitrogen cycle, and megacities and the coastal, as well as a presentation of the Global Carbon Project's 2008 Global Carbon Budget. Saturday, 12 December 2009, 11:00 - 12:30m, Halfden Rasmussen Room, Bella Centre, Copenhagen

Global Change Magazine Launch
IGBP and IHDP have a week-long booth at COP15. IGBP will use the booth to launch the new magazine – Global Change. Staff will also discuss Earth-system governance, global change assessments, and the IGBP Climate-Change Index. 7-11 Dec. Hall H
Climate kiosk
At the Climate Kiosk IGBP have been invited to present the Climate-Change Index on 10 December from 15:00 to 15:40. On 17 December, IGBP will take over one of the demonstration platforms for the day to display the IGBP Climate-Change Index

A short film of the IGBP Climate-Change Index will broadcast on YouTube, the IGBP website and other outlets.

 

Sybil Seitzinger and Owen Gaffney will attend the first week. IGBP Chair, Carlos Nobre, is attending the second week.
