Proposal Conference Involvement
The IGBP Earth System modeling project, Analysis, Integration and Modeling of the Earth System (AIMES) is running an open science conference this coming 10-13 May 2010 in Edinburgh, UK.
Earth System Science 2010: Global Change, Climate and People

Colin Prentice, has approached the GCP to gain interest from the carbon cycle community to participate at the conference. There is the opportunity to run a full or more sessions on the carbon cycle and its interactions with climate and the human system (and perhaps to be picked up for a plenary talk).
With this email I would like to ask you whether you or your immediate or distant colleagues would be interested in 1) participating in the conference, and perhaps more interestingly 2) in leading or contributing to a carbon focus session.
AIMES goals, and the ones of the conference, have been at the cutting edge of developing research that explores the interactions of the natural and human systems in an earth system context, very much consistent with our more carbon focus goals. The conference, not sure how big, is likely to be an interesting and stimulating one.
Please let me know of your possible interest and we can assess whether we have enough people for a possible session.
Best regards,
Pep
