AGU session
Dear Colleagues,
We would like to invite abstract submissions to the following session at the AGU Fall meeting. AGU will accept abstracts from 21 July to 2
September, 2010.
B71: Assessing carbon storage and greenhouse gas emissions in aquatic systems
Description: Freshwater and coastal aquatic systems in many cases have high greenhouse gas (GHG) flux densities and high rates of carbon (C)
storage. Recent studies estimate that global annual C storage and GHG fluxes in freshwater and near-shore coastal aquatic environments are the
same order as terrestrial systems. Efforts to understand and manage C storage and GHG emissions require these to be accurately quantified and
modeled, yet their magnitude is poorly characterized and there is considerable uncertainty as to their sensitivity to climate change and
human activities. We invite presentations related to quantifying and modeling C storage and GHG emissions in aquatic systems under changing
climate and nutrient conditions.
